Petrology and geochemistry of Plio-Quaternary high-Nb basalts from Shahr-e-Babak area:Insights into post-collision magmatic processes in the Kerman Cenozoic Magmatic Arc

Post-collision Pliocene-Quaternary basaltic rocks outcrop in the Kerman Cenozoic Magmatic Arc (KCMA) to northwest and east of Shahr-e-Babak city. These porphyritic vesicular are composed essentially clinopyroxene, olivine, plagioclase. basalts display alkaline affinity negative Ta, Zr, Rb anomaly, but slightly Nb relative elements with similar compatibility, positive Ba, K, Sr suggesting their magma source related subduction-accretion implication subducted slab derived components source. In primitive mantle chondrite normalized diagrams, these show trace (except depletion Nb, Ta) Rare Earth Element (REE) patterns Ocean Island Basalts (OIB) share major element characteristics High-Nb (HNBs). Geochemical analyses for suggest that HNBs have undergone insignificant crustal contamination minor olivine + Fe-Ti oxide ±clinopyroxene fractional crystallization. from a partial melting (~5%) garnet-peridotite wedge, which already metasomatized by overlying sediments, fluids, adakitic (slab-derived) melts as metasomatic agents post-collision setting KCMA. We conclude asthenospheric upwelling arising break-off followed roll-back subducting Neotethys also triggered peridotite wedge caused its subduction zone.
